After 25 years in education, I have been a qualified Personal Fitness Trainer, Weight Management Consultant and Sports Massage Therapist since 2001. I have worked for five years with clients in my own private gym in Bristol. I also trained for a year as a Life Coach and qualified in 2005.

I have worked with many people from all walks of life, of both sexes and all ages, from teenagers to people in their seventies and even eighties and of all shapes, sizes, fitness levels and lifestyles.

Workout for Life has been developed as a direct result of my experience with my one to one clients.

What my clients have taught me is that...
  • the basic and arguably the most useful information you need, to achieve and maintain a good level of fitness is not rocket science. It just sounds like that sometimes!
  • any reasonably intelligent person can learn how to exercise effectively and eat healthily when it is set out and demonstrated clearly.
  • for many people that's all they need. They find out what they need to know and do and just get on with it, usually with excellent results.

However, we all have our own particular styles of learning and developing, taking on challenges and embracing change and so for many of us the route to success is a little more circuitous.
  • getting fit and staying that way doesn't necessarily depend on gym membership or the availability of expensive equipment.
  • much more important for many people, is making a crucial mind shift, such that getting fit, eating properly and maintaining a healthy weight will never again be just a temporary project. Only when these are an integrated part of our lives are they truly effective and sustainable.
